Hamilton, ON - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated 2-1 by the Abbotsford Heat in a shootout on Friday evening at Copps Coliseum in front of 4,011 fans. The 'Dogs extended their point streak to 10 games and remain the only team in the AHL to be undefeated in regulation.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring with four seconds remaining in the first period. Abbotsford starting goaltender Leland Irving came out of his net to play the puck at the hash-marks but Tom Pyatt chipped the puck over Irving and proceeded to fire a shot into the open net.

The Heat tied the game 1-1 at 19:15 of the second stanza. Brett Sutter sent a pass to Carsen Germyn, who fed a pass to Mikael Backlund, who was stationed in front of the net. Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford slid across the front of the net but could not stop Backlund's shot that beat him on the blocker side.

Neither team were able to score in the third period, sending the game into overtime. Both teams had chances to score but Sanford and Irving stopped all shots they faced in the extra period. Irving denied all Abbotsford skaters in the shootout while Kris Chucko and Jason Jaffray beat Sanford to win the game for the Heat.
