Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Peoria Rivermen 3-1 on Saturday night at Copps Coliseum. Patrick Holland notched two goals including the game-winner and Robert Mayer stopped 42 of 43 shots for the win.
The Rivermen opened the scoring at 2:49 of the opening frame on a goal by Derek Nesbitt. T.J. Hensick took a shot from the slot which was stopped by the shoulder of Mayer. The rebound came out to the right circle where Nesbitt lifted the puck over Mayer and into the top corner of the net.
The Bulldogs tied the score at 18:10 of the second stanza on a power-play tally by Holland. The draw was won back to Holland who blasted a shot from the point which sailed by a bunch of bodies in front and past Peoria Rivermen starting goaltender Mike McKenna. With an assist on the play, Tenute extended his point streak to a Bulldogs season-high 6 games.
Hamilton took the lead at 17:20 of the third period on Holland's second goal of the night. Holland converted a Tenute pass behind McKenna on a two-on-one play. Tenute then added the empty netter at 19:34 of the final frame for his third point of the evening. The Rivermen outshot the Bulldogs 43-28. After killing all five penalties tonight, the 'Dogs are now 21 for their last 21 on the penalty kill.
