July 16, 2003 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs are excited to announce the hockey club's 2003-04 schedule format as was approved by the American Hockey League's Board of Governors.
The 2003-04 eighty-game schedule will feature the Bulldogs playing their rivals from the recently formed seven team 'North Division' of the Western Conference for almost 75% of their games. These games will be of significant meaning to the Bulldogs as they must gain a great position within their division to advance in the Calder Cup Playoffs. The Bulldogs will play their newest rivals, the expansion Toronto Roadrunners in 12 contests. Hamilton will also play familiar opponents within the division including: the St. John's Maple Leafs (12 games), the Rochester Americans (10 games), the Cleveland Barons (10 games), the Manitoba Moose (8 games) and the Syracuse Crunch (6 games).
Also this season, for the very first time, the Bulldogs will face-off against the AHL Western Conference's Chicago Wolves; winners of the 2002 Calder Cup. Hamilton will take on Chicago a total of four times. Other conference match-ups will include the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (4 games), the Grand Rapids Griffins (4 games) and the Milwaukee Admirals (4 games).
The Bulldogs will round out the schedule by facing the AHL Eastern Conference's Philadelphia Phantoms (2 games), the Binghamton Senators (2 games) and the Albany River Rats (2 games).
The entire 2003-04 American Hockey League schedule is expected to be announced early next month.
