ABBOTSFORD, BRITISH COLUMBIA - Heading into the third period with a 2-0 lead, the Hamilton Bulldogs (16-14-0-4) weathered a dominant third-period push by the West Division-leading Abbotsford Heat (23-10-1-1) and snuck away with a 2-1 victory on Friday night at Abbotsford Entertainment & Sports Centre in Abbotsford, British Columbia. With the win, the 'Dogs tied their season-best four game winning streak and established a season-best five-game point streak.

Bulldogs forward Justin Courtnall got Hamilton out to a 1-0 lead with a highlight-reel wrap-around goal for his third tally of the season 7:13 into the first period. Forward Joonas Nattinen earned the only assist on the play.

At 10:02 of the second period, Hamilton forward Christian Thomas grabbed a loose puck in front of the Abbotsford goal and ripped a wrist shot that squeaked by Heat goaltender Joni Ortio. Thomas' third goal of the season was assisted by forward Louis Leblanc.

Heat forward Sven Baertschi got his team on the board 3:44 into the third period when he redirected a cross-ice pass from defenceman Mark Cundari. Forward Adrian Foster collected a second assist on the play.

Abbotsford outshot Hamilton 14-3 in the third period as they pressed to even the score, but 'Dogs goaltender Dustin Tokarski held strong to preserve a 2-1 win for Hamilton.

Tokarski made 28 saves on 29 shots in the Bulldogs net in the win. Ortio made 20 saves on 22 shots for the Heat in the loss.

The Bulldogs went 0-for-1 on the power play, while the Heat went 0-for-3.
