Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ONT. - The Hamilton Bulldogs announced today the club will once again team up with Hamilton Police in an effort to reduce impaired driving in Hamilton during the holiday season. As in previous years, Bulldogs ticket vouchers will be issued by Hamilton Police to motorists who complete RIDE lane checks successfully throughout the holiday season.

The aim of the ticket voucher program is to remind drivers of the dangers of impaired driving and to encourage responsible driving practices.

"It's important that we help deliver the message that it's not acceptable to drink and drive," said Bulldogs president Stephen Ostaszewicz. "We're pleased to once again team up with the Hamilton Police Service during the holiday season in supporting this initiative and providing positive encouragement through the RIDE lane ticket voucher program."

"We are proud to team up with the Hamilton Bulldogs again this year," said Hamilton Police Chief Glenn De Caire. "Their generous ticket voucher donations will help us to thank responsible drivers and reduce impaired driving."

RIDE lanes occur throughout the year, and Hamilton Police have already stopped over 190,000 vehicles in 2014. Thousands more cars will be pulled over throughout December as police increase their efforts to prevent impaired driving.

In the City of Hamilton, there have been three fatal motor vehicle collisions involving alcohol this year. Hamilton Police have made over 520 alcohol-related arrests.

Police also encourage citizens to participate in the Operation Look Out program. If someone is suspected of impaired driving, citizens are asked to call 9-1-1 immediately. Callers will remain anonymous. This year, Hamilton Police have made 138 arrests through this program.

The Bulldogs return to action this weekend when they face a home-and-home series with the Lake Erie Monsters. The 'Dogs will visit the Monsters at Quicken Loans Arena on Friday, Nov. 28 at 7:30 p.m., then they'll host the AHL affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche at FirstOntario Centre on Saturday, Nov. 29 at 7 p.m.
