
Bulldogs cook Chops with 5-2 win

Des Moines, Iowa - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Iowa Chops 5-2 on Tuesday night. Mike Glumac extended his goal-scoring streak to six games and Sergei Kostitsyn extended his point streak to eight games.
The Chops scored two quick goals to start the game. Former Bulldogs captain Ajay Baines gained a breakaway on Hamilton starting goaltender Marc Denis but was denied by the goaltender. Drew Miller grabbed the loose rebound and stuffed the puck under Denis at 2:51 for a shorthanded marker. Adrian Veideman gave the Chops a 2-0 lead at 4:28. Petteri Wirtanen received a pass from Eric Regan before releasing a shot on net. Veideman redirected the puck past Denis for the goal.
The Bulldogs cut the lead in half at 5:19 of the opening frame. Ryan White sent a pass to Ryan Flinn, who was stationed in front of the net. Flinn snapped a shot that sailed past Iowa starting goaltender Jean-Philippe Levasseur. J.T. Wyman also earned an assist. Glumac tied the game for Hamilton at 11:59. Brock Trotter fed a pass to Glumac, who one-timed a shot past a sprawling Levasseur. The goal extended Glumac's road point streak to 17 games and goal-scoring streak to six games.
Aubin gave the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead at 7:06 with a power-play marker. Trotter fired a shot on net that was saved by Levasseur. The rebound bounced onto the stick of Aubin, who jammed the puck past Levasseur. Desharnais added a goal at 13:12 while on the power play. Levasseur saved a Yannick Weber shot but was unable to control the rebound. The puck was bouncing around in front of the net before Desharnais banged it over the goal line.
Kyle Chipchura recorded an empty net marker at 18:46 of the final frame to secure the win for Hamilton.
The Bulldogs continue their five-game road trip on Friday, March 20th for an 8:05 p.m. EST. game against the Quad City Flames.
