Fort Worth Brahmas News Release

The Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs continued their season long dominance of the Fort Worth Brahmas on Sunday evening at the Century-Tel Center in Bossier City, Louisiana with a 3-1 win over the Brahmas.

The win for the Mudbugs gives them an 8-0-0 record against the Brahmas this season. Four of the 'Bugs wins have come in Fort Worth, and four of them in Bossier City.

Bossier-Shreveport forward Ryan Manitowich got the 'Bugs off to a great start when he scored on a wrist shot from between the circles just 1:54 into the first period. The score came on the Mudbugs first shot on goal in the game. Fort Worth, however, would answer back, tying the game at 1 when left wing Chad Woollard netted his Brahmas team leading 16th marker of the season when he hammered in a powerplay goal from the bottom of the right wing circle at the 13:41 mark of the first. Because of Woollard's goal, the Brahmas looked to have the momentum as the first period wound down. Bossier would strike again, however, in the waning moments of the opening frame. With just 12 seconds left on the clock, Mudbugs defenseman Craig Minard blasted a shot from the right wing faceoff circle that beat a screened Brahmas goaltender Erasmo Saltarelli to give the home team a 2-1 lead. Minard's goal was a powerplay goal, as Brahmas d-man Adam Davis was in the penalty box for interference.

Playing their fourth game in five nights, a tired Brahmas squad could not mount a comeback in the final two periods. Bossier would score the only goal of the second and third periods when power forward David Oliver redirected a centering pass from left wing Trevor Buchanan at the 11:16 mark of the second. 'Bugs goaltender Ken Carroll preserved the 3-1 lead for Bossier, as he stopped all 21 shots he faced from the Brahmas in the final 40 minutes.

The win was the 15th in a row on home ice for Bossier and extended their overall win streak to five games. The loss was the Brahmas seventh in their last eight games and dropped their record to 14-28-7. Fort Worth will try and get back on the winning track this Thursday night, Feb. 19, when they travel to Memphis to take on the RiverKings at 7:05 p.m. For additional information, please contact the Brahmas office at (817) 336-4423.
