San Angelo Saints News Release
Coming Up This Week â The Saints play two road games this week as the rodeo takes over the San Angelo Coliseum. The Saints will play in Fort Worth on Friday night and in Odessa on Saturday.
Upcoming Promotions â The Saints' next home game is not until March 5th. So far the team has that game scheduled as a Season Ticket Redemption Night where season ticket holders can turn in any previously unused season tickets for free tickets to the game. Also, Area Wide Phonebook will be tossing free gifts into the crowd during the 1st intermission.
Streaks â The Saints remain one of the hottest teams in the CHL with a 6-3-1 record in their last 10-games. The Saints have also won 5 straight home games. Tyler Knight has a 6-game point-scoring streak intact (1G, 5A). Chris Minard (8G, 1A) and Trevor Weisgerber (2G, 5A) have 5-game point-scoring streaks. Jarett Metz has a 4-game streak (2G, 3A).
Week In Review â The Saints went 2-1-0 this week with a road loss to Odessa and home wins over Lubbock and Austin.
Feb. 12th / San Angelo 3 - Odessa 4 / The Saints rallied from a 2-goal deficit to tie the game late in the 3rd period, but the Jacks scored off a face-off with just 36 seconds remaining to steal the win in Odessa. Scott Lega, Trevor Weisgerber and Kevin Vandewater tallied goals for the Saints and Brant Nicklin had 29 saves in a losing effort. The Saints out-played and out-shot the Jacks 40-33, but a couple of defensive mistakes and a couple of nice power-play goals by the Jacks led to the loss. The Saints are now 7-3-0 against the Jacks this season.
Feb. 13th / Lubbock 2 - San Angelo 3 / In a penalty-marred game that ended with a brawl in front of the Saints net, the Saints out-slugged the Cotton Kings 3-2. Weisgerber's 5-on-3 power-play goal midway through the 3rd period proved to be the game-winner as the Saints held off a furious late rally by the Cotton Kings. Chris Minard and Jarett Metz also scored goals for the Saints and Scott Reid notched 27 saves to win his 24th game of the season.
Feb. 14th / Austin 1 - San Angelo 2 / Both goaltenders turned in stellar performances, but Reid out-dueled Austin's Brent Belecki for the win. Chris Minard scored on the 1st shift of the 2nd period and Jarett Metz potted the game-winner on a 2-on-1 early in the 3rd. The Saints had to hold off another late rally that saw the Bats score with just 1:05 left to pull within a goal. But, the Saints killed off the rest of the period to hold on for the win. Reid was again excellent with 36 saves for his 25th win of the season.
Player Moves: Dusty Hunter and Dan Reja are both on Season Ending Injured Reserve. John Jarram remains on the 45-day Injured Reserve. Steve Roberts and Scott Mahar remain on the 14-day Injured Reserve. The team is awaiting MRI results on Scott Lega to see how much time he will miss. The Saints added rookie forward Jason Silverthorn to the roster this past week and could add another forward in time for this weekend's games.
