
CHL names players of the week

The Central Hockey League today named Tulsa left winger Dan Gravelle and Bossier-Shreveport netminder Ken Carroll as the recipients of the Bauer/Nike CHL Player of the Week and the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week awards for Week 17 of the CHL season. Gravelle earns Bauer/Nike Player of the Week honors after scoring 11 points in four games, including three two-goal games, while Carroll posted a 3-0-0 record and a 96.2 save percentage while being named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week.
Gravelle figured in on 11 of the Oilers' 18 goals the past week, and had three multiple point outings, including a five-point game (two goals, three assists) in an 8-5 home win over Oklahoma City February 13th. Three nights earlier, he scored twice and added a pair of assists in a 5-4 shootout home loss to Colorado. He scored two goals again on February 15th in a 5-4 loss at Indianapolis to complete his outstanding week. Gravelle's offensive outburst pushed him over the 50-point plateau this season, currently with 26 goals and 25 assists on the season.
Carroll continued his outstanding season with three consecutive wins this week. He made 40 saves in the Mudbugs 4-2 win at Corpus Christi February 11th, then allowed single goals against in each game of a home and home series sweep of Fort Worth. Carroll' s outstanding play lowered his goals against average to 2.17 (tied for second in the CHL) on the season, and improved his save percentage to 92.5. His 23 wins rank fourth in the circuit, and his win 02/15/04 at the CenturyTel Center helped Bossier-Shreveport set a new team record with their 15th consecutive home victory.
