BUGS CATCH SOME RAYZ â On Wednesday night, the Mudbugs got two goals from Chris Brassard and 40 saves from goaltender Ken Carroll and claimed a 4-2 win over the Corpus Christi Rayz at the Memorial Coliseum. Brad Wingfield and Ken Richardson gave the Rayz an early 2-0 lead after the first period, but the Mudbugs took control of the game in the second. Chris Brassard and Chad Spurr tied it midway through the frame and Trevor Buchanan scored a five-on-three power play goal to give the Mudbugs the lead. Ryan Manitowich then started the third period with a beautiful lead pass to Chris Brassard, who walked in on a breakaway a beat Rayz goaltender Craig Hillier. Carroll then made 18 of his 40 saves in the third period.
ANOTHER WIN IN FT. WORTH â The Mudbugs traveled to Fort Worth on Friday and defeated the Brahmas once again by a final score of 4-1. Fort Worth took an early 1-0 lead after the first period with a goal from Derrell Upton, but Travis Bell tied the game in the second period with his fourth professional goal. The Mudbugs then put the game away in the third with three goals including Forbes MacPherson's 13th and a five-on-three goal from Chad Spurr. Jason Campbell closed the game with an empty-netter and the Mudbugs defeated Fort Worth for the seventh time this season. Ken Carroll stopped 33 shots for the win.
BRAHMAS GO DOWN AGAIN â On Sunday, the Mudbugs continued their dominance of the Fort Worth Brahmas with a 3-1 win at the CenturyTel Center. The victory was the Mudbugs' eighth against Fort Worth this year and was their 15th straight win at home to set a new franchise record. Ryan Manitowich scored with a wrist shot from between the circles just 1:54 into the game, but Chad Woollard tied it for the Brahmas. With just 12 seconds left in the opening frame, Craig Minard snapped a wrist shot past Fort Worth goaltender Erasmo Saltarelli for his fifth goal of the year. David Oliver then finished the scoring with second period goal for the Mudbugs' insurance. Ken Carroll won his sixth straight decision by making 29 saves.

CARROLL NAMED CHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK â The Central Hockey League has named Mudbugs goaltender Ken Carroll the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for his performances in three Mudbugs wins over the last five days. The Oil City, Ontario native stopped 102 of 106 shots this week and is now second in the league in goals against average at 2.17. Carroll is four wins away from tying his career high of 27 victories from the 2000-01 campaign.
MUDBUGS TO HOST "AMERICAN IDOL NIGHT" â On Saturday February 21st, the Mudbugs will host "American Idol Night" at the CenturyTel Center in their game against the Colorado Eagles. Former "Idol" star Kimberly Locke will sing the national anthem and perform between periods. The Mudbugs are also hosting their own "American Idol" competition and fans can audition at any upcoming Mudbugs home game by stopping by the information table outside Section 101. In addition, the Mudbugs will "Salute the Troops" during the game with special Military Appreciation Jerseys sponsored by McKay Consulting. For more information, please call 318-752-2847.
THIS WEEK â On Friday, the Mudbugs host the Indianapolis Ice at 7:05 p.m. at the CenturyTel Center. Then on Saturday, the Colorado Eagles make their second trip to Bossier-Shreveport for "American Idol Night" at 7:05 p.m. Then on Sunday, the Mudbugs travel to Austin to meet the Ice Bats for a 3:00 p.m. start which will be broadcast on KWKH AM 1130.
