BUFFALO, NY -The Buffalo Bisons scored four runs in the first two innings off of Gwinnett starter Julio Teheran and held on for a 4-2 win over the Gwinnett Braves in game three of the four game series Thursday night at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, New York.

The G-Braves had taken an early lead with two runs in the top of the first, but it would be the only runs they would score on the night. With two outs and the bases empty, Stefan Gartrell lined a double off the wall in left. Ernesto Mejia singled to score Gartrell to make it 1-0 and moved to second on the throw to the plate. Christian Marrero then doubled down the right field line scoring Mejia from second to give Gwinnett a comfortable 2-0 lead after a half inning.

The lead would not last long. Struggling with control, Teheran gave up two runs to the Bisons in the bottom of the first by allowing two hits and walking three. One of those three walks came to Brad Emaus with the bases loaded, tying the game at 2-2.

The second inning proved to be much the same for Teheran. Buffalo scored two more runs on a single by Vinny Rottino. The Bisons led 4-2 after two innings, a score that held up the rest of the way.

The G-Braves out hit the Bisons 10- 7 in the game, but left 10 men on base and were 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position. That included the top of the ninth when J.C. Boscan and pinch hitter Jose Yepez notched back to back singles and moved up to second and third on an error by Buffalo left-fielder Fred Lewis. Both Boscan and Yepez stayed at second and third as the next three Gwinnett batters that followed failed to drive them in.

Teheran (L, 3-2) gave up four earned runs on seven hits in his 2.2 innings of work. He walked five and struck out two. The G-Braves' bullpen of Buddy Carlyle, Jaye Chapman and Cory Gearrin pitched a combined 5.1 scoreless, hitless innings while striking out nine.

Buffalo right-hander Chris Schwinden (W, 3-2) worked six innings, giving up six hits and two earned runs. He walked two and struck out four. Elvin Ramirez worked 1.1 scoreless innings. Josh Edgin worked 0.1 inning with one hit and Fernando Cabrera (S, 9) picked up the save going the final 1.1 innings with two hits and a strikeout.

At the plate, Gartrell, Mejia and Joey Terdoslavich all went 2-for-4. Boscan was 2-for-3. Luis Durango's hitting streak ended at 11 with an 0-for-5 night. Likewise, the seven game hitting streak of Drew Sutton ended with an 0-for-5 night.

For Buffalo, Corey Wimberly was the only player with more than one hit, finishing 2-for-4. Rottino went 1-for-4 with two RBI to extend his hitting streak to a league-best 20 games.

The Gwinnett Braves (25-16) and Buffalo Bisons (24-17) meet for the final game of the four-game series Friday night in Buffalo. The G-Braves will start right-hander Eric Junge (3-3, 3.07), while the Bisons counter with right-hander Matt Harvey (3-1, 4.29). The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Listen to the broadcast on WDUN AM 550 in Gainesville, Georgia with Tony Schiavone calling the play by play.
