Buffalo Bisons News Release
TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Bisons take on the Indianapolis Indians in the final game of a four-game series from Victory Field (2:00 p.m.). The Herd is looking for a split of the series following last night's 4-3 win. The victory improved Buffalo to 7-8 on the road, while Indy is 5-6 at home. After today's game, the Bisons will travel to Louisville for a four-game series against the Bats.
R.A. IS A-OKAY: RHP R.A. DICKEY has put together an impressive streak of quality starts for the Herd. In each of his last five starts, the knuckleballer has allowed two or fewer runs while pitching in at least eight innings in each outing. Dickey has worked 46.2 innings already this season, nine more than any other pitcher in the International League. Dickey's 2.31ERA is also the second best mark in the IL. Dickey enters today's game having not walked any of his last 118 batters.
C.C. STREAKIN: OF CHRIS CARTER extended his hit streak to nine games last night. Since April 28, the outfielder has averaged .417 (15-36) with three homers, eight RBI and six runs scored. Carter .333 average on the season is 9th in the International League. He is also 5th in the IL with a .590 slugging percentage and 2nd with 62 total bases.
HARD HITTING HESS: INF MIKE HESSMAN is the International League's top run producer. After collecting three RBI on Friday night, the slugger knocked in his IL-leading 33rd run in last night's victory. Hessman is now two RBI ahead Columbus OF SHELLY DUNCAN. Hessman is also leads the IL with 67 total bases and a .638 slugging percentage and is tied for the league-lead with nine home runs.
BISONS BITS: INF RUBEN TEJADA has hit in five straight games and in 14 of his last 18 contests. Since April 20, the 20-year old has averaged .333 (21-63) with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and 10 runs scored...The Bisons have not lost a series since April 12-13 when they were swept in a two-game series with Syracuse...The Bisons are 5-1 when RHP R.A. DICKEY starts for the Herd...OF FERNANDO MARTINEZ has been hit a league-high six times.
METS UPDATE: The Mets (17-13) got a walk-off home run from C HENRY BLANCO in the 11th inning for a 5-4 victory over the Giants. Blanco had three hits in the game while OF JASON BAY knocked in a pair of runs. The Mets are now 11-1 in their last 13 games at Citi Field. New York looks for a sweep of their three-game series with San Francisco today at 1:10 p.m.
