Des Moines Buccaneers News Release

Urbandale (IA) The United States Hockey League announced on Monday that Des Moines Buccaneers' defenseman Ethan Prow has been named the league's defenseman of the week.

Providing veteran leadership and stability for a defensive core that has been rattled with injuries in recent weeks, Prow was a major reason why the Buccaneers' allowed only five goals over their two games last weekend. He also scored the overtime winner in the Buccaneers' 3-2 win over Team USA (U-17) on Saturday night. It was the first goal of the season for Prow and gave the Buccaneers' their first one-goal victory of the season.

A Sauk Rapids, MN native, Prow is in his second season with the Buccaneers and is committed to St. Cloud State. In November, he played with Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge winning a bronze medal.

The Buccaneers (9-8-1) have won 8 of their last 11 and return to the ice with games at the Tri-City Storm on Friday and Saturday night. The Buccaneers' next home games are Friday December 16th and Saturday December 17th versus Waterloo and Youngstown respectively.

The Des Moines Buccaneers are playing their 32nd consecutive season in the United States Hockey League this season. Since 1980, the Buccaneers have produced hundreds of NCAA Division I players and dozens of professional alumni.
