Bucks Place Traylen On Injured Reserve
January 8, 2008 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release
LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League placed All-Star goaltender Dustin Traylen on the injured reserve list Tuesday morning, prior to the teams optional practice at the Laredo Entertainment Center.
This weekend is fan appreciation weekend, where if you buy a ticket to Friday's game against the Arizona Sundogs, you receive a free ticket to Saturday's game against the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs. Call 718-BUCK (2825) to order your tickets today.
Traylen was placed on the 14-day injured reserve list, retro-active to January 4th, the night he injured his groin against Rio Grande Valley.
The move is precautionary, as Traylen's injury has improved a lot since it happened last week.
"We want to make 150% sure that Dustin is fully healed when he comes back, we are not going to take any chances", said Bucks head coach/GM Terry Ruskowski.
"It feels a lot better than it did on Friday night that's for sure", Traylen said as laid on the training room table Tuesday morning. "I could probably play Friday (against Arizona) if I really had to, i'm fine."
Traylen has been the Bucks number one goaltender this season, with a record of 15-6-1, to go along with a 2.09 goals against average, and a .924 save percentage. Traylen has posted three shutouts this season. He was named CHL goaltender of the month for October, and received player of the week honors October 29th.
Traylen's move to the IR means goaltender John Ceci should see his first game action in a Bucks uniform this weekend. Ceci was signed to a five-game contract prior to Laredo's win against Colorado on Sunday. Ceci backed up Kevin Beech in Sunday's win, and will probably start one of the Bucks two games this weekend.
Traylen's injury will not keep him from making his first CHL all-star appearance. The Bucks had to get special permission from the CHL to allow the third-year pro to make the trip to Broomfield, Colorado for the all-star festivities, along with fellow all-stars Jeff Bes and Serge Dube.
If all goes well Traylen should be back in the line-up January 18th when the Bucks play at the Oklahoma City Blazers.
Laredo will look to improve their CHL-leading 25-8-2 (52points) record this weekend, when they host Arizona on Friday, and Bossier-Shreveport on Saturday. The Bucks are currently 11 points up on the Sundogs in the Southern Conference.
Ruskowski sits at 448 career coaching victories, and will be looking for his 449th on Friday night.
