Bucks Fall In OT 4-3, Donate $10,000 To Wings

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League fell to the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 4-3 in overtime Friday night, in front of 6,500 fans at the Laredo Entertainment Center. Although the game was not sold out, the Bucks still donated $10,000 to WINGS.
The Bucks fall to 19-10-4 on the year, but pick up a point to move to five points behind the Texas Brahmas in the Southeast Division (47 to 42). With the loss Laredo falls to 1-4-3 in their last eight games.
Brett Smith scooped up a loose puck at center ice and skated untouched into the Laredo zone, before sending a shot from just above the slot past Sebastien Centomo with 1:14 left in overtime to win it for the Mudbugs.
With the win Bossier (21-11-2) moves into first place in the Northeast Divion, leap frogging Oklahoma City.
Leading 1-0, the Mudbugs increased their advntage to 2-0 just 1:14 into the second period when Joe Ori scored a power-play goal.
The Bucks (14-4-1 at home) would cut the Mudbug lead to 2-1, when Darryl Smith knocked in a power-play goal 6:45 into the period. The goal was Smith's 20th of the year, with Serge Dube and Alex Goupil each picking up their 19th assist.
Matt Miller would poke in his own rebound just 53 seconds later to knot the score at 2-2. Miller has scored four goals in six games with Laredo. Ryan Salvis picked up the assist.
The Mudbugs would re-take the lead when Ori scored his second of the night, off of a deflection in front of Centomo. Ori now has three goals on the campaign.
Laredo would tie the score once again, when Adam Rivet back-handed a rebound in on the power-play at the left side of the crease. Jeff Bes picked up the assist on Rivet's goal, giving him 498 All-Time CHL points, and 894 in his entire professional career.
The first period was scoreless, as neither the Bucks or Mudbugs could light the lamp.
Each team put up seven shots on goal in the first 20 minutes.
The Mudbugs would jump out in front as they struck on the power-play 12:12 into the second period.
Brett Smith sent an odd angle shot in from the left corner that, that Chris Brassard deflected in past Sebastien Centomo's left shoulder.
The Bucks have given up the first goal in eight of their last nine games.
The Bucks outshot the Mudbugs, 34-19.
Centomo (12-8-2) stopped 15 of 19 Mudbug shots in the overtime loss.
Ken Carrol picked up the win stopping 31 of 34 Bucks shots.
The Bucks held a "pink out" Friday night, as they wore pink jersey's, and asked fans to wear pink to the game to support the cause. Before the game 5,000 pink thunder stix were handed out to fans.
The Jersey's were auctioned off after the game.
The Bucks will host Corpus Christi on Saturday night. After the game there will be a post game skate with the entire Bucks team.
