Bucks Exorcise Demons in Odessa with Win

ODESSA, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League beat the Odessa Jackalpoes 6-1 Thursday night at the Ector County Coliseum. The Bucks improve to 2-1-1 (five points) while the Jackalopes fall to 1-4 (two points).

Neil Trimm had four points (2-24) while Torrie Jung picked up his first professional win in his first career start as he stopped 22 of 23 shots. Matt Robinson (1-12) and Serge Dube (0-22) each picked up two points for the Bucks.

Laredo snapped a five-game losing streak in Odessa and won at the Ector County Coliseum for the first time since March 28, 2009 in game two of the Southern Conference Semifinals.

Jeff Bes picked up an assist to move to within three points of 1,000 in his career.

The Bucks jumped out in front of the Jackaklopes early as they scored two goals in the first 2:39 of the game to go up 2-0.

Neil Trimm put Laredo up 1-0 just 1:10 into the game when he struck with a power-play goal on a slap shot from the left circle. It was Trimm's first goal of the season.

The Bucks would increase their lead to 2-0 less than two minutes later when Addison DeBoer picked up his first goal of the season when he slipped through the defense and scored on wrist shot from the slot. DeBoer's tally game in his second game with the Bucks.

The Bucks outshot the Jackalopes 10-8 in the first period.

The Bucks would explode for four goals in the second period to take a 6-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

After Kenny Bernard cut the Bucks lead to 2-1 just 7:45 into the period Laredo answered by scoring four straight goals to increase their lead.

Matt Robinson would strike on the power-play to put the Bucks up 3-1 when he scored his first of the season from the right circle.

Less than one minute later Hans Benson would jam in a loose puck in the crease to put the Bucks up 4-1 at the 10:32 mark. The strike was Benson's first of the season.

With the Bucks up 4-1 Odessa pulled reigning CHL Goaltender of the Year Joel Martin in favor of Jermie Dupont. Martin stopped 17 of 21 Bucks' shots.

The Bucks would go up 5-1 with 6:33 left in the second when Daniel Koger scored from the left circle to pick up his team-leading sixth goal of the season.

Laredo would increase their lead to 6-1 with 3:06 left in the second when Trimm potted his second power-play goal of the night, this one from the left side of the crease.

The Bucks outshot the Jackalopes 15-12 in the second period.

Neither team scored in the third period as the Bucks outshot the Jackalopes 35-23 in the game.

The Bucks and Jackalpoes will close out their two game series Saturday night in Odessa before Laredo starts a season-high five game home stand Tuesday (Nov. 2nd) against the Jackalopes.
