Allen Americans News Release

Allen Texas- The Allen Americans dropped a 3-1 decision to the Laredo Bucks on Saturday night at the Allen Event Center.

Two first period goals by the Bucks turned out to be all they would need in a victory over the Americans on Saturday night. AJ Hau opened the scoring for Laredo 1:53 into the opening period, scoring on a breakaway, after he tipped the pass at the Allen blue line for an unassisted goal. Matt Boyd put the Bucks up 2-0 at 18:53 of the first, scoring his 5th of the season from Rusty Masters and Adam Rivet. The Americans outshot the Bucks 12-10 in the first period.

Rusty Masters added to the Laredo lead in the second period. Masters followed up a Joseph Harcharick shot, with a blast of his own from the slot area, beating Rejean Beauchemin to make it 3-0 Bucks after 2.

The Americans got on the scoreboard midway through the third period, as Brian McMillin rifled one home from just to the left of the Ryan Rondeau to make it a two goal game at 3-1. The Americans thought they made it a one goal game late in the third, on a Jason Deitsch shot from just to the right of the net, that appeared to have crossed the goal line. It was ruled no goal on the ice, and the score remained 3-1. The Americans were unable to cash in on a late five-on-three power play as the Bucks would hold on for a 3-1 win.

"It took us awhile to get our chance at a power play," said Head Coach and GM Dwight Mullins. "I thought we had some good chances, it just seemed nothing was going our way. As far as the late two man advantage goes, we can't score if we can't hit the net."

The Americans are tied for first place overall in the Berry Conference with Wichita after the Thunders 3-0 win over Rio Grande Valley Saturday night. The Americans host Rio Grande Valley Sunday at 5:05 PM at Allen Event Center.
