Shorthanded Bees Fall 6-1 to Allen

ALLEN, Texas- Due to injuries and call-up's to the American Hockey League the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees (10-11-4) skated against the Allen Americans (15-5-4) with only 13 skaters and fell by a 6-1 decision. David Marshall scored the Bees lone goal.

Allen opened the scoring at the 3:28 mark of the first period as Brett Clouthier scored his second of the season off a scrum in front of Killer Bees goalie Dan Dunn.

Allen extended their lead to two goals at 11:46 of the first period as Nick Layton took a Clouthier pass from behind the net and scored in front.

The Bees however did out shoot the Americans in the first period by a 9-8 mark.

Just 24 seconds into the second period Allen found the back of the net again as Dylan King ripped a shot from the point that beat Dunn high blocker side.

Allen would score one more in the second period as Jim McKenzie scored at 7:27 of the second period. John Murray was inserted to the game after the fourth Allen goal. Dan Dunn finished the game with eight saves.

David Marshall scored the Bees lone goal of the game on a shorthanded breakaway in the third period. For Marshall it is his seventh goal in nine games with the Bees. The shorthanded goal was the Bees second man down strike of the season.
