Buckner, Hansen Promoted from Winston-Salem

The Birmingham Barons and Chicago White Sox have announced that RHP Kyle Hansen and OF Grant Buckner have been promoted to Birmingham from Class A Winston-Salem. Both will be making their first appearances at the Double-A level. Roster at 25.

Hansen, 23, was selected by the White Sox in the sixth round of the June 2012 First-Year Player Draft out of St. John's University where he was a First-Team All-Big East selection during his sophomore year and a Second-Team All-American by Baseball America in 2010.

In 31 relief appearances with the Dash this season, Hansen went 8-4 with a 3.33 ERA (19 ER/51.1 IP) with 52 strikeouts and two saves. He led the Dash and was tied for third in the Carolina League in wins and had a string of 15.2 consecutive scoreless innings pitched over his last nine appearances.

Buckner, 26, was selected by the White Sox in the 26th round of the June 2011 First-Year Player Draft out of West Virginia University where he earned the Big East batting crown hitting .437 and earned All-Big East honors in 2011.

In 61 games with the Dash this season, Buckner hit .276 (65-for-203) with four home runs, 14 doubles, 23 runs scored and 26 RBI while playing at least 10 games at first base (10), third base (25) and outfield (11).
