Buccaneers' Losing Streak Continues

DES MOINES - In the first Thanksgiving night game in years, the Des Moines Buccaneers faced off against the Omaha Lancers in front of a crowd of 2871. After coming off a loss on the road last Saturday, the Bucs hit the ice on fire but would end up losing their sixth straight game.

Just 57 seconds into the game, Alex Chiasson scored a goal with assists from Brett Bruneteau and H.T. Lenz. Less than a minute later, Nick Pryor put the puck between the pipes unassisted. Omaha would score one goal in the period. At 19:02 in the period, H.T. Lenz was ejected from the game after getting in a fight with C.J. Ludwig.

Omaha scored four unanswered goals in the second period. The Bucs had 11 shots on goal while Omaha had 12 shots on goal.

Omaha would score first in the third period, followed by two goals from Josh Balch. His first goal, scored at 6:16, was an unassisted shorthanded goal at 6:16 in the period. His second goal would be the final goal of the game and would be assisted by Chris Knowlton at 7:53 in the period.

Aaron Crandall and Freddy Bergman split time in the goal. Crandall put 40:57 in the goal, with 19 saves and 25 shots on goal. Freddy Bergman played 17:35 in goal, with 2 saves and 2 shots on goal.

This game started the first three game weekend for the Bucs. Tomorrow night they'll be in Chicago and Saturday night they'll be in Cedar Rapids.

The Bucs return home on December 6th playing Chicago. It's Des Moines Register Family Fun Night. Fans can purchase 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 sodas and 4 autographs for $44. There will be $1 hot dogs all night long, as well as a Skate with the Bucs following the game.
