A goal by Derek Arnold with 4:11 left, swung the Waterloo Black Hawks ahead of the Cedar Rapids Rough Riders 5-4 Thursday.

Arnold took his shot immediately off a face off win by Nick Larson.

The third period had started with Waterloo falling behind 4-2 when Mike Seidel redirected a long shot during a five-on-three power play. The Black Hawk rally began when Larson banged in a puck trickling toward the line at 8:32, after Arnold's shot hit Mike Johnson's glove. Jordan Samuels-Thomas tied the game with a wrist shot from between the circles at 14:55.

The Black Hawks had opened the scoring just 45 seconds into the game with Eriah Hayes poking in a goal from the side of the net. The Rough Riders tied the game with a Matt Donovan power play strike at 8:29.

In the second, Jeff Costello put Cedar Rapids ahead with a penalty shot goal at 4:02. The Hawks' Ben Miller answered at 7:56. Donovan scored on another power play at 10:03 to give the Rough Riders the lead before the third period.

The Hawks and Rough Riders meet for a rematch Friday at Cedar Rapids Ice Arena beginning at 7:05.
