Chilliwack Bruins News Release
We would first of all like to thank all of you for being the best fans in the WHL! Even with last night's weather, you still came out and supported the Bruins and more importantly, local families who need your support, especially this time of the year. Thanks for all of the stuffed animals; they will certainly all find good homes in time for the holidays.
The Chilliwack Bruins both on and off the ice, as well as on the radio airwaves and online, are committed to bring you the best possible experience in the WHL. We know that by you taking the time to attend our games as well as listen to us when you cannot make it out to the game, that your support is unwavering and your loyalty is unmatched. We always endeavor to make your Bruins experience the best possible, and this includes when you are not at the rink.
This season, just like last year, the Chilliwack Bruins are broadcast on 88.1 FM, which doubles as an Environment Canada Weather Station when we are not on the air. This station was the only local solution that was feasible for us to try and present our games to you on the radio. There are other stations in this community who are now supporting us with our advertising and promotion, but their format prevents them from putting us on the air for game broadcast.
Unfortunately, this season we have run into a series of issues that have plagued our broadcast from a technical standpoint, both on the radio and online. On every occasion, we have done our very best to get our programming back on the air as soon as possible so that you can listen to the fortunes of our club and continue to support our team. We are well aware of the impact to you, the fan , when our game is not on the airwaves, and will remain diligent about keeping our games on the air and online.
There is some hope on the horizon as there is an application for a second local radio station in Chilliwack, and the hearings for this application to proceed are being held early in 2008, with the hope of being on a true radio station by the start of next season. In the meantime, we are hopeful that our problems with the radio broadcast and our online broadcast have been eliminated.
Jacob and I would like to thank all of you for the words of support and encouragement that we have received while trying to get our program back on the air. We look forward to calling all games for you the rest of the way and hopefully, a long playoff run.
GO BRUINS GO!
Sincerely,
Dave Sheldon
