(Central Islip, N.Y.) - The Long Island Ducks defeated the Sugar Land Skeeters 9-1 on Sunday afternoon in the finale of a three-game series at Bethpage Ballpark.
Ducks starter John Brownell (4-1) was spectacular on the mound for Long Island. A three-run third inning put the Ducks in front 4-1. Fehlandt Lentini's solo home run to left and Puckett's two-run homer to left off Skeeters starter Parker Frazier highlighted the frame. Two more runs came across in the fifth on Mike Blanke's RBI fielder's choice and Blake Tekotte's RBI double.
Ruben Gotay launched his first Ducks homer in the seventh, a solo blast, to increase the advantage to 7-1. An RBI triple by Anthony Vega and a run-scoring groundout from Matt Wessinger capped the scoring. Frazier (5-2) suffered the loss, yielding six runs on 10 hits and a walk with five strikeouts in five innings.
