Gateway Grizzlies News Release

SAUGET, Ill. - Gateway starter Tim Brown tossed a complete game one-hit shutout and the Grizzlies set a new franchise record with their eighth shutout win of the season in a 5-0 win against the Washington Wild Things at GCS Ballpark Tuesday night.

Brown (10-2) won for the fifth time in his last six starts while picking up his league-leading 10th win in a game that took only two hours and seven minutes.

Brown struck out five and walked three with the only Washington (33-44) hit coming on an infield single by Andrew Heck in the first inning. The right-hander from St. Louis, MO threw 106 pitches and picked up the first complete game shutout by a Grizzlies pitcher this season. The complete game was Brown's league-leading fourth.

Rogelio Noris gave Gateway (46-33) all the offense they would need with a first inning two-run home run after a Ben Ives walk.

After Ives struck out to start the third, Noris blasted his second home run of the night to give him 14 for the season and push the Grizzlies lead to 3-0.

John Shelby was the other Grizzlies offensive stalwart on Tuesday night. Shelby picked up an RBI single in the fourth and a solo home run in the eighth, his 12th of the season, to finish off the Grizzlies scoring.

The Grizzlies return to action against the Wild Things Wednesday night. Right-hander Chris Enourato (3-4) makes the start for Gateway. First pitch is set for 7:05 CT.

Playoff tickets are now on sale through the Grizzlies Ticket Office. To get tickets, call 618.337.3000 or go online to gatewaygrizzlies.com.
