
Miners Storm Back to Beat Otters

Marion, IL - The Miners fell down early 4-0 but scored five runs to defeat the Evansville Otters 5-4 at Rent One Park on Tuesday night. Shawn Gilblair earned his 10th victory, a team high and now tied for the league lead. Gilblair gave up six hits and four runs. He walked three and struck out six.
Evansville took an early 2-0 lead off Gilblair in the top of the second inning with a two run home run by third baseman Steve Marino with one out. The Otters added two more runs with a solo home run by left fielder Runey Davis in the top of the third inning and a double and RBI by Luis Uribe to give the Otters a 4-0 lead.
The Miners would find their way back. The Miners scored two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning with a two RBI single by Jason Ganek to the cut the Otters lead 4-2 off Otters starter Bryce Morrow. The Miners added another run in the bottom of the fifth inning with a sacrifice fly by Chad Maddox to bring the Miners within one run 4-3.
With the Miners down 4-3 heading into the bottom of the sixth inning, Jake Kaase hit a lead off triple. Kaase had already singled and doubled in the game and was a home run away from the triple. Jason Ganek was up next and hit a go ahead two run home run off Morrow to give the Miners a 5-4 lead. That home run knocked Morrow out of the game. Otters reliever David Kubiak pitched three innings in relief and didn't give up a run.
Miners reliever Reese McGraw pitched two innings in relief and struck out three batters. He also gave up his first hit a Miner to Luis Uribe in the eighth inning. Brandon Cunniff earned his third save by pitching a scoreless ninth inning. The Miners would win the game 5-4 noting their first come back win of the 2012 season.
With the win, the Miners improve to 47-32 on the season and trail Traverse City by four games. The Otters fall to 36-43 on the season and are now 15 games behind Traverse City in the Eastern Division. The Miners will send Cody Hall to the mound tomorrow in search of his eighth victory of the season. Hall is 7-0 on the season. He'll be opposed by LHP Matt Crim. First pitch is at 7:05 pm.
