Tri-City ValleyCats News Release

TROY, NY - The Tri-City ValleyCats had their three-game win streak snapped at Joe Bruno Stadium on Tuesday night after being shut out by the Brooklyn Cyclones 5-0.

The ValleyCats rallied four hits throughout the night, including two in the ninth inning, when they stranded the bases loaded.

Five pitchers were used in the game by Tri-City, with the starter, Mark Moclair, being tagged with the loss.

Moclair allowed two runs in one and two thirds innings, before Shawn Dubin, Brett Conine, Hansel Paulino and Riley Cabral combined to pitch the rest of the game.

Paulino was the 'Cats' only pitcher who did not yield a run.

Cyclones starter Jaison Vilera earned the win for Brooklyn with seven shutout innings, where he collected nine strikeouts.

Now 18-13, the ValleyCats stand 1.5 games ahead of the Lowell Spinners for first place in the New York-Penn League Stedler Division.

The ValleyCats and Cyclones will play the second game of their three-game series on Wednesday night, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Coverage will begin on the Tri-City ValleyCats Radio Network with Steven Cusumano 15 minutes prior to first pitch.
