WAPPINGERS FALLS, NY - Trailing 6-0 in the top of the eight inning with one out, a rainstorm forced the Connecticut Tigers (15-16) off the field for a lengthy delay and umpires later awarded the Hudson Valley Renegades (19-11) a 6-0 victory after 7 1/3 innings at Dutchess Stadium on Tuesday night.

Chance Kirby (Loss, 1-1), in his second start for Connecticut following his 12-strikeout debut on July 11 against Batavia, allowed five earned runs in five innings. Hudson Valley hit two home runs against the 21-year-old righty on a three-run shot from Chris Betts in the third and a solo homer by Jake Stone in the fourth. Kirby exited after the fifth without striking out a batter.

Tigers reliever Ethan DeCaster replaced Kirby in the sixth and struck out the first three batters he faced. The Creighton and Duke alum fanned five Renegades in two innings and allowed two hits.

Connecticut threatened but did not score by stranding runners at third base in three different innings and Gresuan Silverio grounded into a bases-loaded double play to end the sixth. Renegades starter Paul Campbell (Win, 2-1) tossed six shutout frames with six strikeouts.

The Tigers fell to 0-4 at Hudson Valley this season while the Renegades picked up their league-best 19th win. Connecticut has been outscored 30-3 by the McNamara Division-leading Renegades on the road.

On Wednesday, the Tigers return to Duchess Stadium for the second of three games in this series against the Renegades with Connecticut right-handed pitcher Carlos Guzman (1-1, 4.26) drawing the start against Hudson Valley righty Easton McGee (3-1, 4.50).
