Brooklyn Cyclones News Release
Brooklyn, NY- The Cyclones and Tigers met in the second game of a three game series at KeySpan Park and for the second straight night the Cyclones were defeated, as Brooklyn fell to Oneonta by a score of 6-0. The offense was quiet throughout the evening, as Matt O'Brien baffled the Cyclone bats, allowing no runs and only two hits through seven innings.
The Cyclones sent Nelson Portillo to the hill in search of his second win, but he instead took his second loss. Through six innings Portillo allowed three earned runs on six hits, and the Cyclones were held to just three hits in the game. The Tigers were able to plate three more runs once Portillo departed in the 7th, and opened up their lead for good.
Josh Appell provided a bright spot for the Cyclones, as he came out of the bullpen to pitch two scoreless innings. Joe Holden continued his hot hitting, and singled to push his hitting streak to six games, while Dustin Martin reached twice on a single and a walk. Jonathan Schemmel had the third hit of the night for Brooklyn.
The Cyclones take on the Tigers in the final game of the three game series on Thursday in a 12 noon game.
