Williamsport rode an excellent outing by starting pitcher Kyle Pearson and 2 unearned runs to a 3-1 victory over Staten Island Wednesday night. Pearson went 7 innings giving up just one run. Even in the win the Cutters offense continued its struggles managing just 5 hits in the contest. 3B Jared Keel remained hot going 1-for-2 with 2 walks. In just 3 games with Williamsport Keel, the Pirates 31st choice in the 06 draft, is hitting .455 (5-for-11). Olivo Astacio pitched a perfect 9th to notch his 4th save of the year as the Cutters won for just the second time in their last 11 games.
Williamsport has an early 11am start in Staten Island on Thursday.
