Yanks Climb into First Place
July 19, 2006 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Staten Island Yankees News Release
The Baby Bombers are back atop the McNamara division of the NY-Penn League, after recording a 5-4 triumph over the Williamsport Crosscutters.
Brian Baisley plated the first Yankee run in the bottom of the second with a booming RBI triple off the right-center wall. In his next at bat, he blasted a home run to left. Baisley finished with two RBIs and three hits, just a double shy of hitting for the cycle.
Yankee starter, Tim Norton, struggled in his four innings giving up three runs, despite allowing just four hits and fanning seven.
Paul Patterson improved to 2-0 on the season with his performance in relief, while Jonathon Hovis continued to shine out of the bullpen, allowing just one hit over two frames.
Nick Peterson earned his seventh save of the season, while Kyle Larsen remains at the top of the NY-Penn League RBI list as he drove in another run and stroked two hits.
Mitch Hilligoss was the only other Yankee to record multiple hits on the night, and turned in a fine defensive display at shortstop turning a nifty doubleplay on a hard liner.
The Staten Island Yankees will continue their series with the Crosscutters tomorrow night at the Richmond County Bank Ballpark when they hold "A Salute to Roberto Clemente."
The game is also the first of three games this season that can be seen on the YES network.
