
Brooklyn Eliminates Tigers from Postseason

NORWICH, CT-The Connecticut Tigers (33-36) fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones (33-39) by a final of 5-3 and were officially eliminated from postseason contention.
Brooklyn jumped on Connecticut starter Ryan Castellanos (1-2) in the first inning. Shortstop Alfredo Reyes (2-3, 3 R, 2B, 3B) started the game with a double and after moving to third on a base hit by right fielder Enmanuel Zabala (3-4, 2 R, RBI) scored on a balk. Zabala later scored on a RBI groundout from first basemen Jose Garcia making it 2-0.
Castellanos went five and a third innings surrendering five runs on eight hits with six strikeouts.
The Cyclones added another run in the third and then with the score 3-1 they pushed two more across in the sixth. In the inning centerfielder Desmond Lindsay had an RBI double and catcher Brandon Brosher produced an RBI single that gave Brooklyn a 5-1 lead.
Connecticut rallied in the seventh as they scored two runs. Second basemen Jose Zambrano led off with a single and scored on a triple from right fielder Tanner Donnels (2-5). Donnels scored one batter later on a RBI base hit from first basemen Will Allen (2-5). The Tigers left the bases loaded in the inning and ended up stranding 13 with nine being in scoring position.
Tyler Badamo (5-6) got the win working five and two thirds allowing five hits and three runs. He struck out five and walked two. Carlos Valdez (SV 5) got the save getting the final five outs of the game.
Mike Vinson made his Tigers debut as he worked two and two thirds in relief giving up just one hit and whiffing four. Jake Shull pitched a scoreless ninth.
Connecticut will play the fourth game of a four game series tomorrow at home against the Brooklyn Cyclones. The first pitch tomorrow is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. It will be the final regular season home game at Dodd Stadium this season.
