CORPUS CHRISTI - Round Two of the Fourth Annual Whataburger College Classic is tonight at 6 as No. 23 Alabama takes on Texas-Pan American at Whataburger Field.

Gates open at 5 with Friday and Sunday individual tickets for adults set at $6, $3 for students and youth 12-and-under. Saturday admission is $8 and $4. For tickets, call 361-561-HOOK, visit the Whataburger Field box office or purchase online.

The Crimson Tide boasts senior Kent Matthes, the reigning national player of the week after hitting .563 (9-for-16) with four home runs and 13 RBIs. The SEC player of the week had his homer streak snapped at six games last night against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Fourteen area players fill out the rosters of this year's field. Calallen's Jeramie Marek, Refugio's Matt Rocha, Moody's Jacob Perales, Carroll's Jeremy Narvaez, Ray's Roy Ferdin, Gregory-Portland's Cory Blair and Rockport-Fulton's Andrew Longoria all suit up for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Former Robstown Cotton Picker Trey Hernandez hit his fourth home run of the season for the Islanders last night against Alabama.

The Broncs are benefiting from the crop of talent at MoodyHigh School. Sophomores Arnold Franco, Jose Mendoza and Andrew Perez and freshman Thomas Tovar have earned spots on the Texas-Pan American roster. Carroll's Jose Salmon and Calallen product David DeLeon round out the Coastal Bend contingent.
