Broncos Take a 4-3 Lead into the Ninth; Lose

The Broncos (9-15) took a 4-3 lead into the bottom of the ninth with their closer on the mound. Gracesqui blew his first save of the season and the Thunder (9-14) walked it off in the bottom of the tenth to pick up the 5-4 victory.

RHP Eric Eden (1-1) took the mound for his fifth stat of 2010 and his first start since picking up his first professional win. Opposing Eden and the Broncos LHP Frank James ((2-1), also making his fifth start of the year.

The Broncos took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third when with two outs Ben Wolgtamot was hit by a pitch. Kenny Gilbert then doubled and Nick Mahin hit lined an RBI single into right field to score Wolgamot and give the Broncos the 1-0 lead. Gilbert was thrown out at the plate on the play to end the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth Brian Nichols broke through with a solo homer run off of Eden to tie thehgame at 1-1. Lester Contreras singled and stole second base. That allowed Mike Lewis to hit an RBI single and give the Thunder the 2-1 lead after four innings.

Eden threw six innings, allowing five hits, two runs, he walked three and struck out five.

In the top of the seventh with RHP Matt Gibbs on the mound the Thunder picked up back to back singles with a passed ball in between and took a 3- 1 lead over the Broncos.

In the top of the Eighth with Thunder starter frank James still on the mound the Broncos took their secnd lead of the game. Wolgamot singled to start the inning off. After a Gilbert fly out Mahin was hit by a pitch. A passed ball by RHP Chad Lundahl moved up both base runners with Memmert at the plate. With Memmert still at the plate Kevin Butler was charged with another passed ball that allowed Wlgamot to score and make the score 3-2 Thu7nder. Memmert would walk and bring up Luany Sanchez. Sanchez struck out but on the third swinging strike Butler again wa charged with a passed ball and Mahin came home to tie the game at 3-3. With two out a batter later Ryan Flynn hit an RBI single to give the Broncos the 4-3 lead.

In the bottom of the ninth with the Broncos closer Franklyn Gracesqui on the mound Mike Goss walked. A ground ball by Ron Fenwick that Gracesui fielded and then bobbled resulted in runners on first and second with nobdoy out. Brian Nichols hit an RBI single to tie the game at 4-4.

In the bottom of the tenth Maximinio De La Cruz came unto the game and threw six pitches to three batters and the bases were loaded. Mike Goss hit a weak, bounding ground ball to Sanchez at third base that he tried to bare hand. He was unable to grab it cleanly and the winning run came home to score for the Thunder, a 5-4 walk off win for Coastal Bend.
