Broncos Sign Tyssen to WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement
September 19, 2023 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Swift Current Broncos News Release
Swift Current, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos announced today that they have signed 2006-born goalie Koen Tyssen to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.
"We're very happy for Koen, being a listed player and getting signed is not an easy thing," said General Manager Chad Leslie. "We feel a lack of physical strength is dictating right now, but there is a lot of ceiling with this player moving forward."
Tyssen (6'4"/168lbs), from Edmonton, Alta., spent last season with the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers U18 AAA club, playing in 21 games. Tyssen earned a 9-9-2 record to go along with 3.56 goals-against-average, and a .902 save percentage. He also got into three games with the Whitecourt Wolverines in the AJHL, earning a 2-0 record with a 2.85 goals-against-average, and a .920 save percentage.
Prior to his time with Fort Saskatchewan, Tyssen played a number of seasons with the Southside Athletic Club (SSAC) in Edmonton at various levels in U15 and U16.
The Broncos open the regular season on Friday night when they head to Lethbridge to take on the Hurricanes.
