Swift Current Broncos News Release

SWIFT CURRENT, SK - The Swift Current Broncos announced today that 2004-born defenceman Owen Pickering has signed a Standard Player Agreement.

Pickering, from St. Adolphe, Man., was drafted in the ninth round, 177th overall by the Broncos in the 2019 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

He spent his draft season with the Eastman Selects Bantam AAA program, scoring six goals and adding 11 assists in 35 games.

This past season Pickering suited up for the Rink Hockey Academy Elite 15's program, scoring five times and adding 16 assists in 34 games. Before the CSSHL Championships were cancelled, the 6'2'' rearguard recorded three assists in two games.

"It's obviously a big decision," Pickering said. "But throughout the whole process I kept coming back to the same conclusion: I want to be a Bronco."

Pickering becomes the fourth member of the Broncos 2019 draft class to sign with the club, joining Mathew Ward, Reid Dyck and Josh Davies.
