Regina, Sask. - The Swift Current Broncos (4-14-1-0) have put on back-to-back strong performances and are hoping to carry that momentum into Monday's afternoon tilt against the Winnipeg ICE (13-5-1-0).

Saturday the Broncos won for the first time this season when trailing after one and two periods. Down 1-0 after the opening 20 on a flukey bounce by the Saskatoon Blades, Owen Pickering tied the game off a faceoff win, blasting a slapshot past Nolan Maier five minutes into the second. Mathew Ward had a penalty shot in the second, but was stopped by Maier trying to go through the five hole.

The Blades regained their lead in the final minute of the period off another lucky bounce, as Chase Wouters's shot was stopped by Reid Dyck, but careened off Sam McGinley and into the net to put Saskatoon ahead 2-1 after two.

Braeden Lewis jumped on a rebound two minutes into the third period to tie the game, eventually sending it to a shootout. After the first five shooters were turned away, Ward won the game for Swift Current, faking out Maier and sliding the puck past him on the forehand. The win snapped a seven-game losing streak for the Broncos, while simultaneously ending Saskatoon's five-game winning streak.

Winnipeg was in action Sunday afternoon, dropping a 5-4 overtime decision to the Brandon Wheat Kings. After Peyton Krebs scored a power-play goal to put the ICE up 4-3 with under five minutes to go, the Wheat Kings tied the game with 1:26 on the clock.

Wheat Kings captain Braden Schneider began overtime in the penalty box, and just seconds after stepping out, won the game for Brandon with a rising slapshot off the rush. The win put Brandon in sole possession of first in the East Division, one point up on the Blades, though Saskatoon has one game in hand.

Swift Current just saw the ICE on Friday, a game in which they lost 5-4 but played well enough to deserve a win. The Broncos outshot Winnipeg 44-28 and didn't take a single penalty in the game.

A win for the Broncos would tie the season series at 2-2. Puck drop is at 4:00 with the pre-game show on Living Sky Casino Broncos Hockey beginning at 3:30 on The Eagle 94.1. Catch the game on watch.chl.tv as well.
