Broncos Awarded World Junior Pre-Competition Game

Swift Current, SK--The Swift Current Broncos along with the 2010 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship host committee are pleased to announce that the Broncos and the city of Swift Current will host a pre-competition World Junior game at the Credit Union i-plex during the week of December 20th 2009.

The date and teams participating in the game are still to be determined; however the game will feature two of the world's best junior hockey teams. The Broncos are excited to host another major international hockey event after the success of the Canada/Russia Challenge game last season.

Broncos Chairman of the Board Al Stewart is pleased the Broncos and the City of Swift Current are able to host another International event.

"The board of directors is very excited to be selected to host a pre tournament IIHF World Junior game. This tournament has developed into one of the premier events in hockey. Every year millions of Canadians enjoy watching the very best junior hockey players in the world battle for international hockey supremacy.

During the holiday season the focus of the world's hockey fans will be directed on Saskatchewan, and we are very proud as a group to be part of the tournament, and to have the opportunity to showcase our province, and our city.

The Board would like to recognize and thank in advance, all the people it takes to carry off an event of this magnitude. Our Bronco staff and all the volunteers look forward to the task. It will be a daunting job, but I know it will all be worthwhile come game night.

So come on Swift Current, let's pack the i-plex and show Hockey Canada that this is a great place to host a big show."

The host committee has ensured that the 2010 world junior event showcases the entire province of Saskatchewan as pre-competition games will also be held in Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Prince Albert, Unity and Humboldt.

"As the heartland of major junior hockey in Canada, Saskatchewan was selected as host of this tournament because of its outstanding hockey culture, dedicated network of volunteers and amazing hospitality right across the province," says Mark Stefan, Vice-President of the World Junior Pre-Competition Committee. "The citizens of Swift Current and surrounding area will be outstanding ambassadors for our province and will truly make this tournament a provincial experience."

Tickets for the pre-competition game are $25 for each seat. The amount for Broncos' season ticket holders is $20 which has already been included in their season ticket package. To book your ticket for this international event, contact The Stable Souvenir Store at 773-1509.
