Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

Edmonton, AB - Edmonton Oilers draft pick Kristians Pelss led the way with a goal and two assists as the Oil Kings made up an early two goal deficit to notch a 5-3 win over the visiting Swift Current Broncos Saturday night at Rexall Place. Edmonton fell behind 2-0 before responding with three unanswered goals in the second from Pelss, Tyler Maxwell and Captain Mark Pysyk.

The Broncos would tie the game midway through the third but once again the Oil Kings quick strike offence answered as first round NHL Draft Prospect Griffin Reinhart notched the game winner under a minute later. Curtis Lazar would tally an insurance marker as goaltender Tristan Jarry recorded his fourth WHL win.

The victory lifted the Oil Kings record to 27-10-1-3 on the season as they remain on top of the WHL Eastern Conference standings with 58 points. Edmonton is currently ranked 7th in the Canadian Hockey League Top 10 and have a 7-2-0-1 record in their last ten games.

The Oil Kings will be back in action TOMORROW as they look to sweep this week's three game homestand. The Oil Kings will welcome Matthew Dumba and the Red Deer Rebels. Puck Drop is set for a Sunday 6PM MST start at Rexall Place - all games this season will be broadcast live on the TEAM 1260 and streamed live at WHL.ca
