TORRINGTON, CT- Austin Chauvin homered and doubled to lead the Bristol Blues to a 5-2 victory over the Torrington Titans in the second "Battle of Connecticut." Troy Terzi pitched six innings of three-hit ball, shutting out the Titans over that period. The win went to Terzi, the loss to Nick Johnson and the save to Ty Robinson.
For the Titans, the game featured the latest struggle to record base hits. The Titans' starting line-up today featured only two hitters with more than 20 at-bats and an average above .230. They have led the league in walks and pitched well, but the bats will need to get going in order for this team to win games consistently.
Bristol notched two in the second when Christian Whigham doubled home Chauvin and Robert Schryver. Bristol scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings. In the fifth, Tyler Roberts hit a double and Ryan Rinsky scored. In the sixth, Chauvin hit the ball into the Naugatuck River for a solo shot. In the seventh, Davis Strong singled in Whigham.
The Titans loaded the bases in the bottom of the sixth, but failed to score. In the eighth, Nick Lamberti scored when Roberts' attempt to double off Dean Lockery sailed into right field. Lockery would take second on the same play when Gerrad Rohan's throw was high to home plate. The CCSU player would score for the Titans on Mac Crispino's single.
The Titans play at Brockton tomorrow night and do not return home until next Friday night, when they host Seacoast.
