May 31, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Kansas City Brigade News Release

The Kansas City Brigade in cooperation with Higher MPact, will celebrate the season with the third annual "Summer Kickoff" sponsored by the Helping Hand Foundation, this Saturday, June 3, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wayne Miner Community Center at 1940 E. 11th St., in Kansas City between Euclid and Woodland. Over 500 people from all walks of life in the metro area community attended last year's event.

The event incorporates the Charlie Parker Square and Wayne Miner housing complex as part of Project Restoring Hope, an inner-city push to bring pride, respect, and ownership back to the community. Higher MPact, founded by Tyrone and Renee Flowers, is an inner-city program designed to give youth in the urban core a sense of hope and potential for the future.

The kickoff will feature games, moonwalks, music, and a cookout. Brigade players will be on hand to toss around the football and the Brigade Girls will give cheerleading instruction. Brigade Vice President Neil Smith and Head Coach Kevin Porter will also be on hand to partake in the festivities. Representatives from the Kansas City police and fire departments will also be in attendance.
