Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week
May 31, 2006 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release
2006 AFL Rookie of the Year Ben Nelson performed like anything but a first-year pro in the first playoff game of his career. In a 62-48 victory over the Arizona Rattlers that catapulted the SaberCats into the Saturday's American Conference Championship Game against Chicago, Nelson was virtually unstoppable.
In a simply sensational performance, Nelson grabbed 12 passes for 202 yards and six touchdowns, tying the AFL postseason record for touchdowns in a game.
For his spectacular showing, Nelson has been honored as the Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week for the Divisional Playoff round.
During the regular season, Nelson led all rookies with 94 receptions for 1,405 yards and 26 touchdowns, despite playing in just 11 games. This marks the second time this season that the rookie from St. Cloud (Minn.) State has earned Beckett.com AFL Collectible Player of the Week honors.
