Charleston, WV - The Delmarva Shorebirds (11-17) scored four unanswered runs between the fifth and sixth innings and used a strong pitching performance by Parker Bridwell to top the West Virginia Power (15-14) 4-1 in the second game on Saturday. It was the first complete game of Bridwell's professional career. It was also the first seven inning complete game of the season by a Shorebirds pitcher.

The Shorebirds have won five of their last seven games.

The Power jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the fourth on a solo homer to left-center by Willy Garcia. It turned out to be the only mistake Bridwell made.

In the fifth inning, the Shorebirds took the lead with two runs. Mychal Givens singled and later scored on a wild pitch to tie the game. Then, Michael Ohlman hit a two out double to the left field corner to score Sammie Starr to give the Shorebirds a 2-1 lead.

The Shorebirds added to their lead in the sixth inning. Mikey Planeta rolled a double down the left field line to open the inning. Two batters later, Wynston Sawyer launched a two run homer to left field to give the Shorebirds a 4-1 lead. It was his second homer of the year.

Bridwell, who also tossed a career long seven innings, never faced more than five batters in a single frame. It's his first win since April 26 and his third win of the season.

The West Virginia Power won the suspended game 9-1. The Power held a 7-1 lead when the game continued tonight in the bottom of the third.

West Virginia tallied runs off Zach Fowler in the third and fifth innings. Greg Polanco hit a two out single in the third and he hit a one out double in the fifth inning to produce the runs. Polanco finished 4-for-4 with four RBIs.

The Shorebirds managed just one total hit in the game. Power pitching held the final 15 Shorebirds hitters of the game without a hit.

The Shorebirds and Power will play the series finale on Sunday, July 22 at 2:05pm. The Shorebirds will go for their second straight series win. LHP Matt Taylor is the scheduled starter.
