
Brian Roberts to Play for Shorebirds Tuesday and Wednesday

Salisbury, Md. - In conjunction with the Baltimore Orioles, the Delmarva Shorebirds are excited to announce that Orioles second baseman Brian Roberts is expected to continue his 20-game minor league rehab assignment on Tuesday, May 29 and Wednesday, May 30 with the Shorebirds at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. Roberts is scheduled to play in some capacity in both games, which are 7:05pm starts against the Hickory Crawdads (Texas Rangers).
Roberts, who played for the Shorebirds in 1999, has not played in a major league game since May 16, 2011 when he suffered a concussion, his second in several months.
Roberts began his rehab assignment on Wednesday, May 23 with the Bowie BaySox (Double-A).
The 34-year old has played 11 seasons for the Baltimore Orioles (2001-2011). The two-time American League All Star has a career batting average of .281. Roberts hit above .280 for five straight seasons between 2005 and 2009. His best season was 2005 when he hit .314 with 18 home runs and 73 RBI.
Roberts last played at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium as a 21-year old in his first professional season (1999). In 47 games with the Shorebirds, he hit .240 with 21 RBIs.
