Lakewood, NJ - The Hagerstown Suns (29-20) made it five wins in six games against the Lakewood BlueClaws (19-30), holding on to win the series finale 7-6 at FirstEnergy Park in Lakewood, N.J., on Sunday night.
Suns starter Brian Dupra (3-4) struck out a season high four batters over five innings to earn his third win. Christian Meza struck out the first five batters he faced out of the bullpen and pitched three innings without allowing an earned run. Aaron Barrett recorded his third consecutive save, and team-leading fifth of the year, pitching a perfect ninth inning with two strike outs.
Designated hitter Steven Souza went 3-for-5 with the game winning three-run triple in the fifth inning. Centerfielder Brian Goodwin went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, while Cutter Dykstra was 3-for-4 with a double.
BlueClaws starting pitcher Ramon Oviedo (1-1) suffered the loss, allowing seven runs on seven hits over five innings. Left fielder Brian Pointer and designated hitter Kelly Dugan were both 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the game.
The Suns will travel overnight to Greensboro and begin a three-game series with the first place Grasshoppers on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. Right-hander Alex Meyer (2-3) will make the start for the Suns and is slated to face Greensboro's LHP Charlie Lowell.
