HICKORY, NC - The Lexington Legends earned the series split with a 6-4 win against the Hickory Crawdads, before 2,258 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Sunday evening.

The Crawdads (23-25) got on the board first with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third against RHP Nick Tropeano (W, 3-3). With 1B Jhonny Gomez at second base and two away, SS Hanser Alberto and DH Zach Cone hit consecutive RBI singles to put the 'Dads ahead, 2-0.

Lexington answered with a four-run frame against RHP Santo Perez (L, 2-4) in the top of the fourth. With runners at second and third and only one down, RF Chris Epps drove a two-run double to tie the game. Epps moved to third on a single from 1B Jesse Wierzbicki, before a sacrifice fly by C Roberto Pena advanced both runners ninety more feet for the 3-2 lead. SS Chan Jong Moon added to the new Legends advantage with an RBI double, plating Wierzbicki to make it 4-2.

Hickory cut the deficit in half right away in the bottom of the fourth inning. 3B Drew Robinson started the stanza with a double, before taking third base one out later on a single by CF Jordan Akins. LF Trever Adams then drove an RBI single through the middle of the infield to bring in Robinson and chip the Lexington lead to 4-3.

The Legends stretched the lead back out with runs in the fifth and seventh frames. A Hickory throwing error brought home 3B Matt Duffy in the fifth, and then a solo homer by DH Zach Johnson in the seventh made it 6-3.

The 'Dads again attempted to come back in the bottom of the seventh inning. With runners at first and second and one out, Alberto ripped an RBI single past Duffy at third, scoring 1B Jhonny Gomez from second base to bring the 'Dads within two runs of tying it, 6-4.

However, RHP Murilo Gouvea got out of the seventh with no further damage being done and kept the Lexington lead intact through a scoreless eighth inning. RHP Jason Chowning (S, 9) then dealt a scoreless bottom of the ninth, closing the 6-4 win for the Legends.
