Brandon Brewer delivered a walk-off single in the bottom of the 11th inning in a 3-2 Owlz win over the Ogden Raptors.

Brewer went the opposite way and dropped in a ball along the left field line to score Trevor Hairgrove from 3rd base and give the Owlz their third straight victory. Hairgrove led off the inning by getting hit by a pitch from Matt Shelton (2-1). He got to second on a ground ball to first by Gary Mitchell, and advanced to third on a grounder to second by Drew Martinez. The first pitch Brewer saw from Shelton he dropped in for the game-winning hit.

"That was cool. I'm happy for [Brewer]. I'm happy for the whole team," said Manager Tom Kotchman.

The game-winning hit was especially sweet since C.J. Cron left the game in the first inning with a leg injury.

"That's the least we could do to end his painful day," said Kotchman.

The Owlz (6-2) got into extras thanks to great pitching. Nick Maronde gave up one run in three innings, while Bryant George, Aaron Tullo, Nick Mutz and Aaron Meade combined to pitch eight innings of one-run ball. The lone run off the Owlz bullpen came on a RBI single by Jeff Hunt off of Tullo.

"You can't single one guy out.....Good pitching beats good hitting," said Kotchman.

Ryan Jones hit his 7th home run of the year for the Owlz first run, and the second run came home on a fielder's choice by Jerod Yakubik.

The Owlz have now won three in a row and five straight against Ogden. The final game of the series is Monday night at 7:05 p.m.
