Stockton Thunder News Release

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and San Jose Sharks, announced rookie right wing Bretton Cameron (KAM-er-ihn) has been loaned from the Thunder to the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League on a professional tryout agreement (PTO).

Cameron, 21, will be available to make his AHL debut tonight at Springfield, at 4:30 p.m. and is the seventh Thunder player to earn a professional tryout opportunity with an AHL team this season. By suiting up, he is expected to face Thunder center Chris D'Alvise, who was upgraded from a tryout to a standard player's contract with Springfield on Jan. 11.

The 5-foot-11, 181-pound forward was signed by the Thunder as a free agent on Oct. 25, 2010 after skating with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2010 Prospects Camp and with the Whale in AHL training camp. He leads the Thunder with 13 goals and is tied for second with 23 points (13g-10a) in 29 games.

He departs for the AHL, the first call-up of his career, with a five-game goal-scoring streak and has collected 16 points (9g-7a) in the last nine games. Cameron earned Sher-wood Hockey ECHL Player of the Week honors on Tuesday. Last year, Cameron led the Medicine Hat Tigers and was ninth in the Western Hockey League with 40 goals, additionally scoring a junior career-high 67 points (40g-27a) in 68 games and collecting 119 penalty minutes.
