Kalamazoo's Versteeg Fined, Suspended

January 22, 2011 - ECHL (ECHL) News Release


PRINCETON, N.J. - The ECHL on Saturday announced that Kalamazoo's Mitch Versteeg has been suspended for one game and fined an undisclosed amount as a result of his actions in ECHL Game #372, Cincinnati at Kalamazoo, on Jan. 21.

Versteeg was assessed a boarding major and game misconduct at 5:02 of the second period.

He is fined and suspended under Rule #28 - Supplementary Discipline.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the ECHL and the Professional Hockey Players' Association, player fines collected by the ECHL are given to the PHPA for its ECHL Player's Hardship Fund.

Versteeg will miss Kalamazoo's game at Cincinnati on Jan. 22.
