Brett Palin Selected for AHL All-Star Game

Moline, IL- The American Hockey League announced the roster today for the Canadian AHL All-Star Team. Defenseman Brett Palin was selected to represent the Flames during the event on January 26th in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Palin is in his fourth professional season. He has recorded a career high 11 points (two goals and nine assists) this season. He leads the Flames in plus-minus rating at plus six.

The 2008-09 campaign marks Palin's fourth season in the Calgary organization. He led the 2007-08 Flames in plus-minus (plus 14). He also skated in 142 games for the Omaha Ak-Sar Ben Knights over the course of the 2005-06 and 2006-07 seasons.

The 2009 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Charter Communications will feature the top young talent in the American Hockey League competing in the 2009 AHL All-Star Skills Competition on Sunday, January 25 (4:00 p.m. ET), and the 2009 AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 26 (7:00 p.m. ET). The event will be televised nationally in the United States and Canada.

Of the 455 players to take part in the AHL All-Star Classic since 1995, more than 94 percent have competed in the National Hockey League, including Patrice Bergeron, Brad Boyes, Dan Boyle, Brian Campbell, Zdeno Chara, Rick DiPietro, Jiri Hudler, Miikka Kiprusoff, Kari Lehtonen, Ryan Miller, Zach Parise, Martin St. Louis, Jason Spezza, Eric Staal and Tomas Vokoun.

The Quad City Flames are back on home ice on Friday vs. Toronto. The game starts at 7:05 p.m. It's John Deere Community Night as fans will receive $3.00 off the price of an adult walk-up ticket. The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive John Deere hats.
