Houston Aeros sign Beaudoin to PTO, Release Smith

HOUSTON, Texas - Houston Aeros' General Manager Tom Lynn today announced the team has signed Matt Beaudoin to a professional tryout (PTO). The AHL club also released Darryl Smith from a PTO who returned to the Laredo Bucks (CHL) today.
Beaudoin, 24 (4/6/84), has spent the majority of this season with the Las Vegas Wranglers of the ECHL, playing in 15 games tallying 16 points (10-6=16) and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) with the club. He has also skated in one game with AHL San Antonio, where he earned his first AHL point with an assist, and two contests with Milwaukee. Prior to this season, the Rock Forest, PQ, native has played a total of 11 AHL games with Iowa (Stars), Rochester and Hershey. The 5-foot-11, 190 lb forward also skated in 62 ECHL games during the 2007-08 season split between Las Vegas and Dayton while tallying 38 goals, 31 assists and 44 PIM. Beaudoin will wear #25 with the Aeros.
Smith skated in four games with the Aeros tallying four PIM since being called up on December 30. He will re-join the Bucks for their game tonight.
